15.5 An Update

Hello my name is Corey and welcome to an update about the Mongol Empire Podcast.

After a 5-year hiatus I have finally had some time to focus on the project and bring it out of cold storage. I have taken on a lot of new responsibilities since the last episode was published which has contributed to my inability to do anything, and frankly after 2021 my motivation for doing many of the things I had previously enjoyed was shot to pieces. I am now currently in-between jobs so have a little bit of spare time.

So what is this reboot going to look like? I have looked at everything I have previously completed and will be changing a few elements, primarily to present the show in a more professional way.

The first major change is the episode numbering system. You may have noticed that this episode is 15.5 – the other episodes have now been changed to run 1 to 15. The previous numbering system was born out of the fact that I originally planned to do the rise of Temujin in one episode. The amount of material and analysis meant that that was an ambitious aim so I adapted and then just continued down the path of insanity.

I will also be adding credits to the end of episodes and in the episode description. This will primarily highlight the sources I’ve quoted within an episode, with the detailed bibliography still available on Mongolempirepodcast.com.

There is now an option to donate to the show, there will be a link in the show and episode descriptions.

I also have a plan to put the show onto Youtube, however this requires a little more work as I want to improve the sound quality across the Podcast.

You can now only contact the show by email. The MongolEmpirePod Twitter handle has been left dormant and I have no plans to resurrect it at this point.

In terms of publishing episodes I will be returning to a monthly release, as time allows. On Monday episode 16 will be released, episode 17 is coming in April, and episode 18 in May. These three are pretty much complete, but future releases will depend on my time commitments.

Finally, thank you for all the emails and reviews on Apple Podcasts, it is extremely motivating to know the work I have loved doing has been enjoyed by so many people. So once again, thank you and I hope I can continue to entertain and inform.

That’s the update, episode 16 will be out at the end of February. Until then, thanks for listening!
